Tri-Star Academy is proud to offer Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, a high-quality early learning program that helps eligible 3- and 4-year-old children build the skills they need for kindergarten—and for lifelong learning.

Our caring teachers provide a safe, welcoming classroom where children learn through play, exploration, meaningful routines, and age-appropriate instruction.

What is PA Pre-K Counts?

​Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts is a state-funded pre-kindergarten program for eligible children who are 3 or 4 years old. Our program is a full-day program that meets the standards set by The PA Dept. of Education.

The program supports the development of the whole child by strengthening:

  • Early reading and language skills

  • Beginning math and problem-solving skills

  • Social and emotional development

  • Communication and listening skills

  • Independence and self-confidence

  • Classroom routines and kindergarten readiness

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PA Pre-K Counts free? PA Pre-K Counts is provided at no cost to children who meet the program’s eligibility requirements and are accepted into an available classroom. Does my child need to be potty trained? Not necessarily. Depending on which location your child is enrolled in, potty training assistance may be available. Please contact the center of you choice for more information. Is transportation provided? No, parents will be responsible for having their child arrive and depart and the designated time. Are meals included? Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided. Can my child attend before or after the PA Pre-K Counts day? Additional childcare options are available Fees, eligibility requirements, and ELRC assistance may apply. What happens if the classroom is full? Eligible children will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when an opening becomes available.

Wh0 May Qualify?

Your child may be eligible for PA Pre-K Counts if:

  • Your child is 3 or 4 years old by September 1st

  • Your family meets current income eligibility guidelines

  • Your child or family has additional factors that may create a need for high-quality pre-kindergarten services

 

Additional priority factors may include developmental or educational needs, housing instability, involvement with the child welfare system, a home language other than English, or other family circumstances.

Eligibility is determined through an application and documentation review. Our enrollment team will help you understand the requirements and guide you through each step.
